A warm sunny Saturday in June welcomed the Helec installation team as they prepped and delivered a packaged plant room enclosure onto the roof of the St Mary’s Health Campus in Milton, Portsmouth.

Helec were appointed by ETEC Associates to design, build & supply to site a GRP enclosure with a steel base that would encase the equipment required to deliver the controlled Air Conditioning into the recently refubished NHS maternity centre at The St Mary’s Health Campus in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Due to the hospital being busy and active throughout Monday to Friday, all work by Helec needed to be constructed off-site and delivered on a weekend where we could provide crane access to site and safe lifts up onto the roof.
The team only had a days “window” to get the base into place, lower the enclosure on top around the equipment and then weatherproof & seal it to the base, so the clock was always ticking…..

In addtion to this, the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) needed to be minimised further still due to private houses and apartments being nearby, so additional acoustic panels were sited on the roof around the enclosure and the external equipment in order to dampen and subsequently reduce the operating noise levels down to an acceptable level.
