105 kwe CHP unit
‘Not all CHPs are the same’
Hengrove Park Leisure centre is owned by Bristol City Council and operated by Parkwood Leisure.
It is a new state of the art leisure complex that includes a 50m swimming pool, sports halls, gym, fitness studios, crèche and cafe.
Helec were appointed to supply and commission a 105kWe NG Combined Heat & Power unit as part of the integrated energy system.
The M & E contractor was looking for a more efficient and cost-effective unit that was originally specified, this was achieved by the selection of an Energimizer CHP system.
Solution and Outcome
Helec supplied their EM100SNG model, which has an overall efficiency of 88%, which compared well to the leading competitor’s 79% overall efficiency. This meant that in real terms the client would benefit from an extra £9,000 savings per year on running costs alone.
Helec were also able to provide a more flexible service contract that was more suitable for the client’s long-term needs and did not lock the client into a 10-year contract.
Because of the units higher efficiency, the client will also achieve extra carbon savings equating to an additional 16.5 tonnes of CO2 per year.
