Engimizer CHP system
‘Not all CHPs are the same’
Hengrove Park Leisure centre is owned by Bristol City Council and operated by Parkwood Leisure.
It is a new state of the art complex that includes a 50m swimming pool, sports halls, gym, fi tness studios, crèche and cafe. Helec were appointed to supply and commission a 105kWe NG CHP unit as part of the integrated energy system.
The M & E contractor was looking for a more effi cient and cost effective unit than was originally specifi ed, this was achieved by the selection of an Engimizer CHP system.
Solution and Outcome
Helec supplied their EM100SNG model, which has an overall effi ciency of 88%, which compared well to the leading competitor’s 79% overall effi ciency. This meant that in real terms the client would benefi t from an extra £9,000 savings per year on running costs alone.
Helec were also able to provide a more fl exible service contract that was more suitable for the clients long term needs and did not lock the client into a 10 year contract.
Because of the units higher effi ciency the client will also achieve extra carbon savings equating to an additional 16.5 tonnes of CO2 per year.
