Pre Packaged PLant (PPP) room – incLuding combined Heat and Power (cHP)
Lawrence Square is a modern urban development of 264 new homes made up of apartments and low rise family homes, in Tottenham, North London.
The developer – Bellway Homes, needed a low carbon approach to the plantroom including a CHP to supply 75-80% of all the hot water requirements. They also wanted an efficient solution to minimise disruption to this very busy site.
Solution and outcome
Appointed by Bellway Homes, Helec were responsible for design through to completion. Works included PPP, CHP, HIU’s and all pipework. Helec’s partner Evinox supplied the HIU’s and are responsible for the bill generation and collection of revenue. The PPP was arranged on 4 skids and installed within 2 days, supplying 24 tons of thermal storage, 1500 kW of boilers, 70 kWe CHP and a cold water booster set – duty, assisted and standby (3 pumps). Helec met project dates for delivery, and provided expert support
during the crucial commissioning and early stages of implementation. This system incorporates Absolute Remote Access (ARA), where Helec have full control of not only the boilers and CHP, but also the HIU in each apartment, enabling fault diagnosis and assistance down to the home owner level.
